Funeral services for Charles Ova Bancroft, 63, Childwold, were held Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the Childwold Presbyterian Church. Mr. Bancroft died Saturday morning at Binghamton. Burial was in the Gale Cemetery.
In failing health for several months, he had been making his home with his daughter in Binghamton at the time of his death.
He was a native of Childwold, born on September 19, 1898, the son of Charles and Hester Tucker Bancroft. His grandfather, Henry Bancroft, was one of the early settlers of the area.
He graduated from Tupper Lake High School and from Canton A.T.I. At the time of his death he held the post of Justice of the Peace of the Town of Piercefield.
Surviving besides his wife, the former Miss Nina Cook, are sons, Charles Bancroft of Rochester and Lynn Bancroft of Binghamton; two daughters, Mrs. Mayfred Miske, Binghamton and Mrs. Pauline Milano, Rochester; also nine grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
