TUPPER LAKE--Mrs. Hazel Down, 80, formerly of Conifer, died April 29 at 1 a.m. in the St. Petersburg, Fla. Hospital while visiting at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clifford Pearson.
Mrs. Down and her husband, Alfred, lived in Conifer for 30 years. He died in 1945 and she then made her home in Syracuse for 25 years. She moved to Endicott about three years ago.
She graduated from Syracuse University in 1915. She was a retired school teacher. She was born in Ogdensburg, the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Steven Hurlbut.
Survivors include: two sons, Austin of Baldwinsville and Alfred of Wood Dale, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Clifford Simonin and Mrs. Joe Simonin of Endwell, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. George Cowie of Phoenix, Ariz.
The service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Community church with the Rev. Denis Butler officiating. Burial will be in the Gale Cemetery.
