TUPPER LAKE--Victor E. Noelk, 81, a resident of Conifer since 1912, died Wednesday. He was found at his home in Conifer by his sister, Mrs. Dorothy Zenger who lives next door, slumped on the floor near the bed. He was pronounced dead at Mercy General Hospital.
Mr. Noelk was active in Republican Party politics serving on the Town of Piercefield board and on the St. Lawrence County Board of Supervisors. He was a director of the Tupper Lake National Bank, Rotary Club, and Masonic Lodge.
His wife, the former Mildred Thomas whom he married April 20, 1919, died Jan. 30 of this year. A daughter, Mrs. Vivian Dupree of Saranac Lake, died shortly after Mrs. Noelk.
He was retired from the Emporium Lumber Co. and Heywood Wakefield Lumber Co., serving as purchasing agent and woods superintendent.
He was born in Germania, Pa., the son of August and Katherine Wenzel Noelk.
Survivors include: two sons, Victor H. Noelk of Woolrich, Pa.; 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ray (Dorothy) Zenger; and a brother, August Noelk, of Fort Plain, N.Y.
A service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Richer Funeral Home with the Rev. Eric King of the first United Methodist Church of Saranac Lake officiating. Burial will be in the Gale Cemetery.
