A service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Childwold Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Eric Ericson officiating for Mrs. Mary Ellen Shumway, 68, of 35 Waller Street, Piercefield, who died early Wednesday morning in Mercy General Hospital, where she had been a patient 17 days. Burial will be in the Gale Cemetery in Childwold.
The body will repose at the Shumway home in Piercefield until the time of the service.
She was born on May 8, 1898, daughter of George and Mary Ellen Reese Franciscoe in Clyde. She was a member of the Piercefield Fire Department Auxiliary.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Hilda Currier of Schenectady, Mrs. Margaret Bartholmew of Childwold, Mrs. Isabel LaVair of Piercefield and Mrs. Beulah Facteau of Tupper Lake; three sons, Ronald and Donald of Piercefield and Arthur of Lyons; 15 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
