(1823-January 11, 1894)
East Norfolk--Luther Chapman-Spottswood Factory Jan. 23, 1894
Luther Chapman died this 11th inst. His death was for a long time expected and when the final summons came, universal sadness prevailed in the entire community.
His 70th birthday occurred last October but nature had dealt so kindly with him that half a century might have been considered the limit of his life here.
As a citizen he was very kind, ever extending assistance to the bereaved and unfortunate; in business circles ever faithful, strictly honest and obliging.
The funeral services were held in the Congregationalist Church Sunday Jan. 14, conducted by Rev. Mr. Eddy, of Norwood, who preached to a large and sympathizing audience from John 14:1.
Internment is Hale cemetery. Mrs. Chapman, three daughters, Mrs. M. B. Crabb of this place, Mrs. Holt, of Norwood, Mrs. C.S. Knapp of Huntington, P.Q. two sons, K. H. Chapman, of Potsdam, Fred Chapman who remains with his mother and seven grand children survive him.
