CHASE MILLS--Bertha A. "Gram" Gould, 91, of 16 Arena Drive, died at 2:10 p.m. Thursday in Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam, where she had been a patient since Monday.

 

Mrs. Gould owned and operated a saw-sharpening shop in West Woodstock, Vt., for more than 25 years and was a cash register operator at G&G General Store, owned by her son George, until after her 90th birthday.

 

Born May 30, 1913, in Windham, Minn., daughter of Burton and Effie Powell Wilkins, she was a graduate of Potsdam High School. She married John Harry Pike on Dec. 21, 1935, in North Stockholm with the Rev. Calvin R. Sloff officiating. Mr. Pike died Aug. 23, 1960. She married William Gould on Nov. 23, 1960, in Taftsville, Vt. He died in 1985.

 

She was a resident of Vermont from 1960 until moving to Louisville in 1988. She was a life member of the United Methodist Church, Raymondville, and a member of Lyra Chapter 230, Order of the Eastern Star.

 

Surviving are a son and his wife, George and Gerry, Louisville; a daughter-in-law, Eileen Pike, Gloversville; two sisters; Alice McComber and Florence Clark, both of Raymondville; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

 

Two sons, James and William Pike, and a granddaughter died before her.

 

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, Raymondville, with the Rev. Karen Marshall officiating. Burial will be in Hale Cemetery, Norfolk.

 

There will be no public calling hours. Arrangements are with Phillips Memorial Home, Massena.

 

Donations may be made to the United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, Raymondville, or Hospice & Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
