Alcoa Crane Operator

NORFOLK--Walter C. Green, 80, of 19 Wheeler Drive, died Wednesday morning in Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam.

 

Mr. Green served in the Army during world War II and was a crane operator at Aluminum Company of America until his retirement in 1984 after 42 years.

 

Born Nov. 3, 1921, in Louisville, son of Willis and Myra Dean Green, he attended Massena schools. He married Shirley Blanchard on Nov. 1, 1952, at the United Methodist Church parsonage with the Rev. Ernest Droppa officiating.

 

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, St. Regis Hunting Club and Alcoa 25-Year Club and a past Little League coach. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and sporting events.

 

Surviving besides his wife are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Marcus and Terry and Nancy, all of Norfolk, and Jay and Katherine, Parishville; a brother, Archie, Buffalo; three sisters, Aletha and Nettie Green, both of Norwood, and Blanche Wells, Massena, two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

 

The funeral will be a 1 p.m. Friday at Buck Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Lenz officiating. Spring burial will be in Hale Cemetery.

 

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
