James W. Boyea

MADRID--Funeral services for James W. Boyea, 92, formerly of Mayfield Apartments, Potsdam, will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home in Madrid, with Rev. Thomas Robillard presiding. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Norwood.

Calling hours will be held today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mr. Boyea died Friday (June 11, 2004) at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg.

He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Daryl (Patricia) Martin of Norwood, Beverly Boyea and Michael Ashley of Chase Mills, Mrs. Bart (Barbara) Zagami of Stormville, Mrs. Gene (Linda) Ford of Madrid; two sons, Edward J. Boyea of Russell and John W. Boyea of Lowville; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Mayville; and a brother, Edward Boyea.

Mr. Boyea was born on May 1, 1932 in Malone, the son of William Boyea and Delia (Carlin) Boyea.

He attended Malone schools.

He married Lydia LaPage on Jan. 21, 1945 at the Methodist Church in Norfolk. She predeceased him on Jan. 10, 1982.

The couple resided in Norfolk and Madrid. He spent winters in St. Petersburg, Fla., and Myrtle Beach, S.C., until 2003.

Mr. Boyea was employed at Reynolds Metals in the janitorial department. At one time, he worked at the Norfolk Paper Mill.

He enjoyed fishing, playing pool, reading and playing cards.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

POTSDAM--James W. Boyea, 92, formerly of Mayfield Apartments, died at 5:55 a.m. Friday at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg.

Mr. Boyea was employed in the janitorial department at Reynolds Metals, Massena, and previously was employed at Norfolk Paper Mill.

He enjoyed fishing, reading and playing pool and cards.

Born May 1, 1912, in Malone, son of William and Delia Carlin Boyea, he attended Malone schools.

He married Lydia LaPage on Jan. 21, 1945, at Norfolk Methodist Church. The couple lived in Norfolk, in Madrid for many years and in Norwood. Mrs. Boyea died Jan. 10, 1982.

Mr. Boyea spent winters in St. Petersburg, Fla., and Myrtle Beach, S.C., until 2003.

Surviving are four daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Daryl Martin, Norwood, Beverly Boyea and Michael Ashley, Chase Mills, Barbara and Bart Zagami, Stormville, and Linda and Gene Ford, Madrid; two sons, Edward J., Russell, and John W., Lowville, 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A sister, Margaret Mayville, and a brother, Edward, died before him.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Phillips Memorial Home, Madrid, with the Rev. Thomas J. Robillard officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Norwood.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
