Norwood, July 9--Charles R. Cardinal, 69, a lifelong resident of this village, died Wednesday afternoon at 4 in his home at 11 Spring Street. He had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage three weeks ago.
The body was taken to the Buck Funeral home where friends may call. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m., in St. Andrews Church, Rev. Francis Maguire officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, Norwood.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Cardinal; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Blanche) Powers, Rochester; four sisters, Mrs. Frank (Christie) McDonald, Norwood; Mrs. Emma Finnegan, Raymondville; Mrs. Charles (Mary) Klien, Rochester, and Mrs. Clarence (Agnes) Pond, Brandon, Vt.; two brothers, Earl Cardinal, Syracuse, and Arthur Cardinal, New York city and four grandchildren.
Mr. Cardinal was born on Dec. 1, 1883, at Norwood, son of Napoleon and Jane McMillan Cardinal. He married twice. His first wife, the former Miss Pearl LaVeen, died in April, 1928. On July 10, 1933, he married Miss Mary Ann Heazey. He retired from his position as conductor on the New York Central railroad in 1928. He then owned and operated a service station on outer South Main street here, until 1942.
A charter member of the Norwood council, Knights of Columbus, he was also a member of the Holy Name society of St. Andrews church.
