Archie C. Healy, one of Norwoods most prominent business men for 45 years, died at his home at 25 Prospect street Friday evening, following a cerebral hemorrhage early the same day.
Mr. Healy was born in Potsdam, a son of John and Theresa Campbell Healy. When he was 21 years of age he went to Norwood and with his uncle, the late John Joy, opened a jewelry and optical store. Since the death of his uncle about 25 years ago, he had continued to operate the jewelry store adding gift articles, magazines and newspapers.
Mr. Healy had long been active in all local affairs of the Norwood community. He had served on the village board of trustees and at his death was president of Norwood Library association. Besides these activities he had been a member of the St. Lawrence Democratic committee for 40 years.
Mr. Healy was a member of the Knights of Columbus council and St. Andrews Catholic church and had for some time been a member of the directors of Calvary cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, the former Gertrude Smith of Norwood and one daughter, Miss Hilda Healy, a teacher in the Massena schools.
The funeral was held from St. Andrews church Monday morning at 10 oclock, Rev. James E. Joy officiating assisted by Rev. Fr. T. Holland of Massena acting deacon, Rev. Fr. R. Fitzpatrick of Faust, sub-deacon and Rev. Fr. A. J. Farrell of Norfolk, master of ceremonies. Burial was made in Calvary cemetery, Norwood.
