Viola P. Herne

101 years old

NORWOOD--Viola P. Herne, 101, of 464 Austin Ridge Road, died Wednesday afternoon at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Stanley Farmer, Norwood.

Mrs. Herne was a homemaker and a communicant of St. Andrew’s Church.

Born March 28, 1904, in Owls Head, she was a daughter of Lewis and Elizabeth Blair McDonald.

She married Lewis A. Herne on April 27, 1921, at St. Regis, Quebec. He died March 16, 1969.

Surviving besides Mr. and Mrs. Farmer are a son and his wife, Lawrence and Felma, Norwood; two other daughters and a son-in-law, Reba Degon, Malone, and Lois and Ronald Gooshaw, Norfolk; a sister, Ruby Welsh, Black River, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Three sons, Robert J., Linon Patrick and Roger, three brothers, Asa, Kenneth and Carlton McDonald, and three sisters, Dorothy Van-Connette, Eva Gebo and Wava Serge, died before her.

A memorial Mass will be said in spring at St. Andrew’s Church with Monsignor Harry K. Snow officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Buck Funeral Home.
