Farm Laborer

MADRID--The funeral for Shawn C. Hewey, 31, of 207 Elliot Road, was scheduled for 4 p.m. today at Phillips Memorial Home. Spring burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Norwood

Mr. Hewey died Saturday. St. Lawrence County Coroner Patricia A. Webster ruled the death a suicide by hanging. His body was found about noon Saturday, hanging from a tree behind his home, the St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Department reported.

Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was a farm laborer for Larry Osoway and other area farms and worked on construction projects in Syracuse and with Bissonette's, Potsdam.

Born Sept. 10, 1969, in Potsdam, son of Donald Hewey and Wanda Dumont Smith, he attended Potsdam schools and obtained a general equivalency diploma.

Surviving besides his father of Arizona and his mother of Madrid are his stepfather, Robert Smith, Madrid; two daughters, Charlene Clough, Hannawa Falls, and Brittany Hewey, Norwood, and a sister, Sonja Trimm, Potsdam.
