William K. Hollinger

Custodian, caretaker

NORWOOD--William K. Hollinger, 73, of 3 Eel Pond Road, died Wednesday night in Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam. where he had been a patient since Nov. 7.

Mr. Hollinger owned and operated a construction company, was in the restaurant business with his family in West Stockholm, Norwood, and Potsdam for 18 years, and was a custodian and caretaker at St. Lawrence Church and its cemetery, Louisville. He also served as sexton of Calvary Cemetery.

Born July 9, 1929, in Potsdam, son of Alve and Della Giroux Hollinger, he married Stella Claffey on Oct. 25, 1953.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council, Louisville, and a communicant of St. Andrew’s Church.

Surviving besides his wife are four daughters and their husbands, Geri and Leon Mitchell and Peggy and Steven Chase, all of Norwood, Sue and David Ackerman, Montgomery, and Sharon and Thomas Chase, Potsdam; a brother, Kenneth, Hannawa Falls; two sisters, Kay Hooper, Potsdam, and Mrs. William (Betty) Barkley, Madrid; seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

A sister, Mildred E. Cameron, died July 10, 1990.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew’s Church with the Rev. Paul Worczak officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 09 p.m. today at Buck Funeral Home. Donations may be made to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
