NORWOOD--Hilda P. Jarvis, 78, Highland Nursing Home, Massena, formerly of Norwood, died Tuesday evening at Massena Memorial Hospital.

A homemaker, Mrs. Jarvis was employed with Aluminum Company of America during World War II.

Born March 10, 1926, in Norfolk, a daughter of John and Julia Bonn Phillips, she was a graduate of Norwood High School and married Walter "Chet" Jarvis on Sept. 7, 1947, at St. Andrew’s Church with the Rev. Paul Hagan officiating. Mr. Jarvis died Sept. 19, 1997.

She was a communicant of St. Andrew’s Church and a past member of its Altar and Rosary Society.

Surviving are two sisters, Eleanor P. Farnsworth and Elsa P. Gagnon, both of Potsdam, and several nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, John Jr. and Joseph, and three sisters, Mary Young, Ann Gagnon and Julia P. Yolton, died before her.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew’s Church with Monsignor Harry Snow officiating. Spring burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Buck Funeral Home.
