Dairy farmer

NORWOOD--The funeral for William Joseph Jarvis, 90, of 187 Austin Ridge Road, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Andrews Catholic Church with Monsignor Harry K. Snow, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Norwood.
Mr. Jarvis died Friday at his home.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Buck Funeral Home, Norwood.
Mr. Jarvis and his wife, Gladys, owned and operated a dairy farm in the Daily Ridge area. He had also worked earlier on the St. Lawrence Seaway and at Aluminum Company of America in Massena.
He was a communicant of St. Andrews Catholic Church and a member of the Canton Agricultural and Technical Institute, now Canton College of Technology, alumni group.
Born June 20, 1915, in Chateaugay, son of William L. and Eva Sancomb Jarvis, he graduated from Norwood High School in 1934 and from Canton Agricultural and Technical Institute in 1937.
He married Gladys Davey on Aug. 24, 1940, at St. Andrews Catholic Church with the Rev. James E. Joy officiating. Mrs. Jarvis died June 28, 2001.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Edward "Peter" and Gloria, Massena, and Bernard and Sharon, Norwood; two daughters and a son-in-law, Marion Clark, and Patricia and Dwight Gibson, all of Norwood; a brother, Francis, Rio Rancho, N.M., 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Three brothers, Donald, Bernard and Gerald, four sisters, Evelyn Vaisey, Katherine Babbitt, Anna Schultz and Marion Jarvis, and three grandchildren died before him.
Donations may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley or St. Andrews Catholic Church.
