MASSENA--The funeral for Robert G. LaMonda, 68, of 6 Linden Ave., will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Church of the Sacred Heart with the Rev. Donald J. Manfred officiating.

Spring burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Norwood.

Mr. LaMonda died Friday at St. Regis Nursing Home.

There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Phillips Memorial Home.

He was employed at General Motors Powertrain in Massena for more than 30 years, retiring in 1986. He later worked for A.E.I. Carr Brokerage firm in Rooseveltown for 12 years as a release clerk.

Mr. LaMonda was active in Little League baseball and at one time coached a Babe Ruth baseball team.

Born July 8, 1935, in Plattsburgh, son of Robert A. and Beryl Roscoe LaMonda, he graduated from Potsdam Central School, attended Canton Agricultural and Technical Institute and graduated from Ogdensburg Business School in 1955. He served in the Army from 1958 to 1960 and served four years with the Army Reserve.

He married Joan F. Hughes on April 29, 1961, at St. Andrew’s Church, Norwood, with Monsignor Francis J. Maguire officiating.

Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Lisa LaMonda, Coburg, Ontario; a son and his wife, Anthony and Amy, Niskayuna; a sister and her husband, Roberta and Richard Stys, St. Albans, Vt.; a brother and his wife, Bruce and Carol, Shokan, four grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
