Miss Jane Mackey, Music Teacher, Dies Suddenly in Norwood

 

Miss Jane M. Mackey, 63, a lifelong resident of Norwood and a

music teacher here for years, died Friday at her home on Cottage St.

Miss Mackey suffered a cerebral hemorrhage late Thursday afternoon.

 

The body was removed to the Garner funeral home.

 

Funeral services were held Monday at 9 a.m. at St. Andrew's

Catholic Church in Norwood, with Rev. Francis J. Maguire, pastor,

officiating. Burial was made in Calvary cemetery.

 

Surviving are her mother , Mrs. Emma Ellison Mackey of Norwood,

and four b r o t h e r s , Harold Mackey, Earl Mackey, Edward

Mackey, all of Norwood and Leonard E. Mackey, Watertown and

F l o r i d a .

 

Miss Mackey was born Aug. 26, 1890, at Norwood, daughter of John P. and Emma Ellison Mackey. She was graduated from Norwood High school and later from the Crane department of music, of Potsdam State Teachers College, Potsdam .

 

For years Miss Mackey taught private music lessons at her home.

 

She was organist for St. Andrew's Catholic church for 25 years. Miss Mackey was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of the church.
