Retired Norwood Railroad Conductor Dies At Edwards-Funeral Friday

Potsdam, Jan. 18--Frank McDonald, 81, Norwood, retired railroad conductor on the St. Lawrence division of the New York Central railroad, died Tuesday at the home of a son, Edward McDonald, Edwards, where he had been staying for the past week. He had been in failing health.
The body was removed to the Buck Funeral Home, Norwood, where friends may call today and Thursday.
The funeral will be held Friday morning at 9 from St. Andrews Catholic church, Norwood, Very Rev. Msgr. Francis J. Maguire officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, Norwood.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Christine Cardinal McDonald, who is a patient in the Potsdam nursing home; three sons, Edward C., Edwards, Earl E., Gouverneur, Ray F., Dayton, O., one daughter, Mrs. Rodney (Jane) Bradish, Gouverneur; and 13 grandchildren.
Mr. McDonald was born in Oswego, Oct. 9, 1879, a son of Terrance and Margaret Fisher McDonald. On May 23, 1906, he married Miss Christine Cardinal of Norwood. The ceremony was performed in the old St. Andrews Catholic church, Norwood, by Rev. Jeremiah Manning, pastor at that time.
The couple have lived at Norwood since their marriage. Mr. McDonald, a passenger conductor for the New York Central railroad, St. Lawrence division, retired in July 1949, after 45 years of service. He joined the New York Central on April 29, 1904.
A former member of the Knights of Columbus and Elks club, he was a member of St. Andrews church, Norwood, and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.
