NORWOOD--Phyllis W. McDonald, 88, Troy, formerly of 2 Elm St., died Friday evening at Seton Health Hospital, Troy.
Mrs. McDonald taught school at a one-room schoolhouse just outside Ogdensburg and then at Norwood Elementary School.
She was a past member of the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Andrews Church, a member of the New York Sate Retired Teachers Association and a volunteer at Bassett Hospital, Cobleskill.
Born Jan. 23, 1915, in Ogdensburg, daughter of Sylvester and Anna Easter Williams, she married Lawrence McDonald on July 14, 1937, at St. Marys Cathedral, Ogdensburg, with the Rev. Edward Burns officiating. Mr. McDonald, a conductor and brakeman for New York Central Railroad for 30 years, died March 16, 1996.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen Hunt, Bromsgrove, England, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Diana Hunter, died March 31.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrews Church with Monsignor Harry Snow officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Buck Funeral Home.
