NORWOOD--Esther L. McGinnis, 81, Turnpike Road, Throop, formerly of Norwood, died Saturday in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse.

A homemaker, she was a past member of Catholic Daughters of America and a former communicant of Holy Family Church, Throop.

Born April 19,l 1922, in Potsdam, daughter of Theron and Lou Spencer Benson, she was a graduate of Potsdam High School and Canton Agricultural and Technical Institute and married John McGinnis of Throop.

Surviving besides her husband are five sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael, Auburn, Thomas and Penny, Queens, Mark, San Diego, Calif., David, St. Pete Beach, Fla., and Dale and Clara, Cuba; a daughter and her husband, Kathleen and James Ayers, Cuba, and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrew’s Church with the Rev. Andrew J. Amyot, pastor of the Church of the Visitation, Norfolk, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today at Buck Funeral Home.
