ELIZABETH P. MCKENTY, RETIRED TEACHER, DIES
NORWOOD -- Elizabeth Parr McKenty, 82, Orange City, Fla., a native of Potsdam and a former Norwood resident, died Thursday at Mariner's Nursing Home, Deland, Fla.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Andrew's Church, with the Rev. Paul Worczak officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Buck Funeral Home. Donations may be made to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
Surviving are three sons, John, Vernon, Conn., Robert, Marcellus, and James, West Stockholm; four daughters, Mrs. Gary (Patricia) Prashaw, Norwood, Mrs. Richard (Jean) Disbro, Syracuse, Mrs. Thomas (Bette) Taylor, Mystic, Conn., and Mrs. Geoff (Kathleen) Illian, Greer, S.C.; three sisters, Ellen Munson, Orange City, Margaret Haggett, Norfolk, and Mrs. Donald (Judy) Tuffing, Denver, Colo., 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Born March 19, 1914, in Potsdam, daughter of William and Julian Murphy Parr, she married Charles McKenty Nov. 22, 1935, in St. Andrew's Church, Norwood, with the Rev. James E. Joy, then pastor, officiating. Mr. McKenty died Jan. 4, 1995.
Mrs. McKenty retired from teaching in the Potsdam school district.
