R. Daniel Mitchell

NORWOOD--The funeral for R. Daniel Mitchell, 69, Mount Kisco, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew’s Church with the Rev. Andrew J. Amyot, pastor of the Church of the Visitation, Norfolk, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Mr. Mitchell died Tuesday from injuries suffered in a two-car accident on Route 56 south of the village of Colton.

There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Buck funeral Home, Norwood.

He was a teacher for the Board of Cooperative Educational Services in Elmsford and later taught at the Cedar Knolls School District in Pleasantville.

He was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, Bedford.

Born Feb. 28, 1935, in the Bronx to Mr. And Mrs. George Hegenauer, he later legally changed his name to Mitchell. He served in the Army during World War II.

He married Catherine Donnelly of the Norwood area in 1967. She died Sept. 27, 2003.

Surviving are three sons, Mark, Brewster, R. Daniel Jr., Wisconsin, and Curtis, Royalton, Conn.; and a daughter, Kathleen Mitchell Sommers.
