Ellen McNiff Mott

Norwood--Mrs. Ellen Jane McNiff Mott, 78, was fatally injured Saturday night (Nov. 13, 1954) at about 6:40 when she was struck by a car.

Mrs. Mott was crossing Main St. on the crosswalk at the A&P store when she was hit and thrown several feet. Mrs. Mott was taken in the Buck Ambulance to Potsdam Hospital where she died of a fractured skull at 7:20.

Mrs. Mott was born in Norwood on Oct. 25, 1876, a daughter of the late Patrick and Ellen McCarthy McNiff. She married Eugene Mott of Norwood on Nov. 16, 1904. The couple was to have observed their 50th wedding anniversary tomorrow and a family dinner had been planned for Sunday.

Surviving are her husband, a retired railroad man on the New York Central; one son, Lyle Mott of Potsdam; two daughters, Mrs. Arch (Eleanor) Royce of Norwood and Mrs. Leo (Esther) hickey of Norwood; and seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Mott was a member of St. Andrew’s parish and of the Altar and Rosary Society of the church.
