POTSDAM--Lillian M. Oakes, 83, of 7 Debra Drive, formerly of Norwood, died Tuesday morning at St. Josephs Home, Ogdensburg, where she had been a patient since Sept. 17.
Mrs. Oakes was a homemaker.
Born March 10, 1922, in New York City, a daughter of Patrick and Anna Carroll Gleason, she attended school in New York City and was an attendant at Central Islip Hospital.
She married Roy Joseph Oakes on Jan. 16, 1942, in New York City.
Surviving besides her husband are three sons and their wives, Roy J. "Bud" Jr. and Donna, Parishville, Patrick A. and Vicky, Potsdam, and Timothy M. and Kathy, Chesapeake, Va.; three daughters and their husbands, Eileen A. and David Bender, Thousand Oakes, Calif. Maureen E. and Paul Santimaw, North Syracuse, and Kathleen P. and Harold Ling, town of Brasher; 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, John and Martin Gleason, and a sister, Mae Gleason, died before her.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Andrews Church, Norwood, with Monsignor Harry K. Snow, pastor, officiating. Spring burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Norwood.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Buck Funeral Home, Norwood.
Donations may be made to a charity of ones choice.
