The funeral for Lawrence A. Popple, 88, of 7 Pine St., retired Alcoa employee, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Buck Funeral Home, with Msgr. George Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Mr. Popple died Wednesday evening at the St. Regis Nursing Home, Massena, where he had been since February 1981. Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Buck Funeral Home.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Helen) Smith, Massena, and Mrs. Robert (Catherine) Wilkins, North Carolina; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A brother, Lorenzo, died before him.
Born in Heuvelton Aug. 5, 1900, a son of Charles and Orphie Popple, he married Hattie Oakes Jan. 2, 1922. Mrs. Popple died April 29, 1948.
Mr. Popple was employed as a blacksmith by the New York Central and Rutland railroads and also at Alcoa, Massena, retiring in 1962.
He was a member of St. Andrews Church, Norwood, and Alcoas 25-Year Club.
