Stage Coach Driver Dies
(died August 18, 1928)
Alonzo A. Ames, 79, one of the best known residents of this village and former driver of the four-horse stage coach between Massena and Norwood, died Saturday at his home in Massena. Death was due to pneumonia, contracted last Tuesday.
Mr. Ames drove the stage coach in 1874 and 1875 that furnished Massena the only means of transportation to the nearest rail terminal, Norwood, 15 miles away.
