NORFOLK--Eleanor V. Arno, 80, of 1224 County Route 36, died early Saturday in Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, where she had been a patient since June 28.
Mrs. Arno was a homemaker and at one time worked at the Highland Hotel.
She was a communicant of the Church of the Sacred Heart, Massena.
Born Aug. 15, 1923, in Norwood, daughter of Vernon and Margaret Clara Patnode Oakes, she attended Norwood schools.
She married Albert J. Arno on Sept. 17, 1942, at Potsdam. The couple enjoyed camping and belonged to a trailer club. Mr. Arno died Sept. 7, 2002.
Surviving are five sons and four daughters-in-law, Vernon L. and Helen, Massena, Robert J. and Nancy, Taberg, Albert P. and Shirley, and Kendrick J., all of Norfolk, and Christopher J. and Shirley, Canton; two daughters and their husbands, Carol and Ronald McDonald, Syracuse, and Linda A. and Douglas Smith, Florida; 24 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Ten brothers and sisters and a granddaughter died before her.
A funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Sacred Heart with the Rev. Donald F. Manfred, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Massena.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena.
