Edith Bancroft

 

(February 14, 1875-December 23, 1963)

 

A funeral service was held this afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Richer Funeral Home for Mrs. Edith Bancroft, 88, of Childwold, who died Monday morning at the Davis Rest Home in Canton where she had been a patient for a year and a half.

Burial will be in the family plot in Gale Cemetery in the spring.

She was born at Norwood Feb. 14, 1875, the daughter of William A. and Lucinda Lawrence Pond. About 65 years ago she was married to Jonas Bancroft in Tupper Lake. Prior to moving to Childwold in 1910 the couple lived in Colton. Mr. Bancroft died in 1929.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ansel (Beulah) Dorothy of Childwold; Mrs. Thomas (Margaret) Tarrant, of Lake Placid and Mrs. Howard (Faxton) Newcomb of Irvona, Pa.; one son, Harold of Potsdam; one sister, Mrs. Anna Bartholomew of Childwold, and three grandchildren.
