MASSENA--Donald H. Barkley, 68, Shreveport, La., formerly of Massena, died Jan. 14 at his home, where he was under the care of Hospice.

Mr. Barkley retired from the mapping department of Arkla Exploration Co., Shreveport, after 30 years of service. He also worked at Tri-State Plan Service and for three years at Seagull Energy, both in Louisiana.

Born in Norwood, son of Henry E. and Wilma Clark Barkley, he graduated from Massena Central High School and served three years in the Army Corps of Engineers.

He married Beverly King in 1960 in Alexandria, La.

Mr. Barkley was a member of the Noel United Methodist Church, Shreveport. He enjoyed birdwatching.

Surviving besides his wife are his father, of Norwood; a daughter and her husband, Ellen Barkley and Steve Dupuy, Shreveport; a son and his wife, Stephen and Kennie, Stonewall, La.; his twin brother, Ronald H., Louisville, Ky.; two sisters, Deborah Catalano, Watertown, and Audrey Kalil, Fayetteville; a grandson, an aunt and several nieces and nephews and cousins.

A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Monday at Noel United Methodist Church. Arrangements were with Osborn funeral Home, Shreveport. Donations may be made to Noel United Methodist Church, 520 Herndon St., Shreveport, La. 71101; Grace Home, Shreveport, the American Cancer Society of a charity of one’s choice.
