Irving L. Baxter

POTSDAM--The funeral for Irving L. Baxter, 67, Route 345, will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Andrew Amyot, pastor of the Church of the Visitation, Norfolk, officiating. Burial will be in Church of the Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk.

 Mr. Baxter died Wednesday at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.

 Calling hours will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

 Mr. Baxter was a custodian for many years at Potsdam State University College, retiring in 1997.

 He was an avid equestrian, following the draft horse and draft ponies circuit at local county fairs and shows for many years.

 Born June 11, 1935, at Knapps Station, town of Stockholm, son of Homer and Julia Gaines Baxter, he attended school at Norwood.

 Marriages to Jean Seabring and Cindy Millette ended in divorce.

 Surviving are five daughters, Theresa Dumont, Hannawa Falls, Margaret Charleson, Lisa Clothier and Carrie Baxter, all of Potsdam, and Gloria Belile, Ogdensburg; two sons, Irving, Potsdam, and Luke, Massena; five sisters, Shirley Foster, Syracuse, Catherine Deleel, Potsdam, Frances LaShomb, Norwood, Arlene Deleel, Newark, and May Clark, Norfolk; three brothers, David, Madrid, William, Potsdam, and Lee, Keeseville, and 13 grandchildren.
