Arden D. Cardinal

World War II Veteran

HOPKINTON--Arden D. Cardinal, 88, Peterstown, W. Va., formerly of Hopkinton, died Friday at Princeton (W.VA.) Health Care Center.

 Mr. Cardinal served in the Army during world War II and was a millwright at Aluminum Company of America, Massena, until his retirement after 35 years.

 Born Jan. 11, 1914, in Norwood, son of Daniel and Rose Cardinal, he married Altha Martha Delosh on June 17, 1944, in Columbus, S.C. She died March 25, 1979.

 He was a communicant of Holy Cross Church, Hopkinton, and a member of Alcoa 25-Year Club, Hopkinton-Fort Jackson Volunteer Fire Department, Hopkinton, and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

 Surviving is a daughter, Christine Cardinal, Peterstown.

 The funeral was at 7 p.m. Sunday at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, Peterstown, with the Revs. Rick Mathena and Jonathan Goss officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Cross Cemetery.

 Local arrangements are with Hammill Funeral Home, Winthrop. Donations may be made to Princeton Health Care Center, South Wing Alzheimer’s Unit, Princeton, W.Va.
