Marion Chase Dies Suddenly
(1899-July 7, 1948)
Mrs. Marion Chase, 48, of 23 Pleasant St., died in the Potsdam Hospital at 1:45 a.m. today as a result of a cerebral hemorrhage sue suffered shortly before 11 p.m. yesterday.
Stricken suddenly and when alone, Mrs. Chase managed to telephone Dr. L. T. McNulty, who had her taken to the hospital. She died an hour and a half after being admitted.
Mrs. Chase had attended the local movie with Mrs. Charles Olmstead Tuesday evening and returned to her home about 10 p.m. She was in good spirits and apparently felt fine.
Born in Norwood in 1899, Mrs. Chase was the former Mildred Bartlett, the daughter of William and Charlotte Bartlett. After attending Norwood schools, she was graduated from the Normal here about 1920. She taught in Norfolk, Norwood and nearby rural schools.
On Sept. 8, 1924, she was married to Frederick Chase. One son, Frederick S., was born to them.
The elder Mr. Chase is now in a veterans hospital in Batavia, N.Y. A soldier in World War I and a former salesman, he has been ill there for two years. The son is a PSTC student.
Only the husband and son survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m., burial to be in Bayside. Reverend J. Thurston Travis will officiate, and Clark and Foote will be in charge of arrangements.
