NORWOOD--The funeral for Lawrence O. Dean, 87, of 185 Porter Lynch Road, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Buck Funeral Home with the Rev. Lee Sweeney, pastor of Knapps Station Community Church, officiating. Burial will be in South Russell Cemetery.
Mr. Dean died Saturday at Community Nursing Home, Potsdam, where he had been a resident since March 24.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today at Buck Funeral Home, Norwood.
He was employed at Norfolk Paper Mill in the 1930's was a die maker at the Aluminum Company of America until retiring in 1975 and operated an organic farm.
Born March 25, 1913, in Potsdam, son of Charles and Margaret LaClair Dean, he married Eva Mae Strait on May 14, 1934, at the United Methodist parsonage, Norfolk,with the Rev. David McVeigh officiating.
He was a member of Alcoe 25-Year Club.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons and their wives, Warren C. and Shirley, Norwood, and Lawrence O. Jr. and Linda and Maurice M. and Lark, all of Houston, Texas; three daughters and their husbands, Patricia M. and Patrick Rourk, Norwood, and Robert and Janice L. Rice and Fredel A. and Michael Penelope, all of Syracuse; two brothers, Robert, Holland, Mich., and Charles, Syracuse, 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
A son, Robert, died before him.
