Registered nurse

Elinor Harris DeLaire, 82, formerly of Watertown, died Thursday at Hill Haven Nursing Home, Webster.
Mrs. DeLaire was a registered nurse and had worked at Potsdam Hospital, Alice Hyde Hospital, Malone, and Mercy Hospital in Watertown, finishing her nursing career as an office nurse for Dr. Lawrence Withington.
Born Aug. 31, 1923, in Norwood, daughter of William Eugene and Angie Charlebois Harris, she graduated in 1941 from Norwood High School, and from St. Elizabeths School of Nursing, Utica, in 1944.
She married George Morton DeLaire on Nov. 30, 1946, at St. Andrews Church, Norwood, with the Rev. James E. Joy officiating. The couple moved to Clearwater, Fla., in 1977. Mr. DeLaire died April 5, 2001.
As a longtime resident of Watertown, she was a member of Holy Family Church, was active in the Girl Scouts and served as president of the parent-teacher association at Ohio Street School. In Clearwater, she was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, the embroiderers Guild of America and the Welcome Wagon.
Surviving are a daughter and her husband, Ellen DeLaire-Newman and Wayne R. Newman, Pittsford; a sister, Margaret McKenna, Ontario, N.Y.; two brothers, William Harris, Ormond Beach, Fla., and George Harris, Norfolk, two granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.
A sister, Mary Frost, died before her.
A funeral Mass will be aid at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Transfiguration, Pittsford. Burial will be at noon Thursday in Glenwood Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Homes Rochester.
Instead of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of ones choice.
