COLTON--There will be no funeral or calling hours for Florence R. Deon, 79, Colton. Spring burial will be in Crary Mills Cemetery.

 Mrs. Deon died Wednesday at Fernando-Pasco Hospice House, Dade City, Fla.

 Arrangements are with Garner Funeral Home, Potsdam.

 Mrs. Deon worked in the food service department at Potsdam State University College for 19 years, retiring in 1988.

 She was a member of the West Potsdam Fire Department Auxiliary and Skirts ‘n’ Flirts Square Dancing Club and was a 4-H leader.

 Born March 12, 1923, in Canton, daughter of Carl and Pearl Thurston Briggs, she graduated from Canton schools in 1940.

 She married George S. Deon on July 10, 1943, at Potsdam Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Roy officiating. The couple lived at Burnham Corners near Norwood in the town of Potsdam until moving in 1994 to Colton. Mr. Deon, a retiree of the Aluminum Company of America, Massena, died Aug. 10, 1995.

 Surviving are a son, Kevin, Bernhards Bay; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Ruth and Dale Forrester, Zephyrhills, Fla., Janice Greiner, Fairview, Ohio, Sandra and Harry Young, Norwood, and Lorraine and Rich Greer, Potsdam; a sister, Edith Howard, Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; a brother, Harold Briggs, Sarasota, Fla., 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

 A sister, Pauline Ball, three brothers, Ivan, Lawrence and Stuart Briggs, and a son, Ronald, died before her.
