George H. Dove, born in Canton in the Civil War period, passed away at his home in Norwood, Friday morning as the result of a cerebral hemorrhage suffered the previous Saturday. He was 88 years old.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 at the Shephard funeral home, Norwood, the Rev. Frank R. Hughes, rector of St. Phillips Episcopal Church, officiating.

He was born Sept. 1, 1862, in Canton where he spent his early life and married a Morley woman, many years ago. During his active life he worked at the mason’s trade.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Charlotte Finnimore Dove, a sister Mrs. Lewis Lukens, two nieces and two nephews.
