Pot room technician

MASSENA--Joel G. Dowe, 57, of 95 Nightengale Ave., died of a brain hemorrhage at 8:30 p.m. Monday at Upstate Medical University, Syracuse.

 Mr. Dowe was employed at General Motors Central Foundry and was a technician in the pot rooms at Aluminum Company of America.

 Born March 25, 1945, in Massena, son of Joseph H. and Ruth E. Martin Dowe, he was a graduate of Norwood-Norfolk Central School.

 He was a member of the Alcoa 25-Year Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and woodworking.

 Surviving are his fiancée of 17 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Barber, Massena; a son, Patrick J. Barber, at home; a stepson, Alan Barber, Massena; two daughters, Michele LaBrake and Joelle Dowe, both of Metuchen, N.J.; his stepmother, Elsie Jane Dowe, Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. Raymond (Patricia) Chagnon, Massena, and several nieces and nephews.

 His parents and a sister, Joan M. Cuzzocrea, died before him.

 The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Memorial Home with the Rev. Alan D. Shnob officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

 Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

 Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
