POTSDAM--Loren E. Edwards, 87, Athens, Ga., formerly of Norwood and Potsdam, died Thursday at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Edwards served in several administrative capacities at Clarkson College of Technology, now Clarkson University, including admissions, development, alumni and college relations. He later was vice president of Potsdam Hospital, now Canton-Potsdam Hospital, retiring in 1979.
He was a member and past president of the Potsdam Hospital board and of Potsdam Rotary Club and also was a member of the St. Lawrence County Boy Scout Executive Council and the board of the former St. Lawrence National Bank.
Born June 1, 1917, at Rouses Point, son of Keith and Hazel Hunter Edwards, he graduated from Norwood High School and Clarkson College.
He married Rose Cawley of Gloversville on July 28, 1945.
After retiring, he and his wife enjoyed their Airstream travel trailer for 16 years, migrating annually between Potsdam and Florida with extended stays in Virginia. They then lived in Roanoke, Va., before moving to Athens to be near their sons, Kirk and Christopher.
Surviving besides his wife and his sons, all of Athens, are three brothers, Marlyn H., Sebring, Fla., Hollis D., Potsdam, and Ivan "Jack,", Floyd, Va. Three brothers, Wendell, Wallis K. and Athol "Ed," died before him.
The body was cremated. Burial will be in Bayside Cemetery later this year. Arrangements are with Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Athens.
