Luther G. Farnsworth

Army Veteran

 

(October 2, 1923-February 4, 2002)

 

TUPPER LAKE--Luther G. Farnsworth, 78, Main Street, died Monday at the Adirondack Medical Center, Saranac Lake.

 Born Oct. 2, 1923, in Norwood, the son of Olvin Benjamin and Mary Louise ?Snyder Farnsworth, he attended school in Norwood until age 10, when his family moved to Faust. Mr. Farnsworth attended Tupper Lake High School until joining the Army. He served in the European theater of operations in World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945.

 He married Dinne Corrow of Vermont.

 He worked as a lumberman in various Vermont sawmills. He moved back to Tupper Lake in 1970 and retired as a machinist from Pratt & Whitney.

 Mr. Farnsworth was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Edmond Bujold Post 3120, Loyal Order of the Moose and the Franklin, Conn. Association of Senior Citizens. He enjoyed hunting.

 Among his survivors are two daughters, both in Vermont, two brothers, Olvin, Tupper Lake, and Earl, Bradenton, Fla., and many nieces and nephews.

 A son and three brothers, Lauren, Floyd and Arthur, died before him.

 Arrangements were with Richer Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will be in May in the church cemetery.
