OGDENSBURG--Janet E. Ferguson, 73, of 9098 Route 37, died Tuesday at her home.
Mrs. Ferguson was a registered nurse at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital, now Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, from 1953 to 1958 and was employed at the St. Lawrence State Hospital, now St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center, from 1958 until retiring in 1988. She went to work at Kinney Drugs in 1989 and also volunteered at St. Josephs Home.
Born May 28, 1933, in Norwood, daughter of Nelson and Muriel Gauthier Grant, she graduated from Potsdam Central School in 1950 and from the former A. Barton Hepburn School of Nursing in 1953 as a registered nurse.
She married Basil F. Ferguson on Nov. 20, 1953, at St. Marys Cathedral.
Mrs. Ferguson was a member of St. Marys Cathedral parish, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and Altar and Rosary Society and a past president of the Hepburn Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association. She enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting.
Surviving besides her husband are a son and his wife, K. Michael and Kathleen, Liverpool; three daughters and their husbands, Kerin and Anthony Puccia, Ogdensburg, Lenette "Letti" and Sherman Deloney, Lisbon, and Stella and Richard Premo, Margate, Fla.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Durwood "Bud" and Betty Grant, Ogdensburg, and Darryle Grant, Gainesville, Fla.; nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A prayer service will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Fox-McLellan Funeral Home, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Marys Cathedral with the Revs. Terry R. LaValley and Scott R. Seymour officiating. Burial will be in Foxwood Memorial Park.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
