CANTON--William H. Foote, 81, of 900 Old DeKalb Road, died Sunday morning in Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam, where he had been a patient since Dec. 22.

Mr. Foote was a farmer.

Born Feb. 11, 1922, in Canton, son of Henry and Pearl Boice Foote, he attended Canton High School, where he played football.

He married Ethel M. Boyd on June 24, 1945, in the Seventh-day Adventist Church with Elder Alexander Houghton officiating.

Surviving besides his wife are five sons and five daughters-in-laws, Daniel A. and Phyllis, South Lancaster, Mass., John B. and Teri, Walla Walla, Wash., Carl, James B. and Rhonda, Benny E. and Diane, and Carol F. Bley, all of Canton; a daughter and her husband, Joan Foote Fischer and Steve Fischer, Canton; a sister, Minnie Reilly, Canton; two brothers, Dr. Joseph, Fort Ann, and Edward, Canton; 21 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Two sons died before him, Henry E. in 1993 and David W. in 1987. A brother, Judson B., died in 1975.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Keavin Hayden officiating. Spring burial will be in the Foote family cemetery.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Lawrence Funeral Home.
