POTSDAM--The funeral for Helena T. French, 70, Collins Road, Norwood, formerly of Potsdam, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Church with the Rev. Edward Papp presiding. Burial will be in Bayside Cemetery.

Mrs. French died Tuesday morning in Canton-Potsdam Hospital, where she had been a patient since April 20.

Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Garner Funeral Home.

She was a homemaker.

Born Sept. 26, 1927, in Potsdam, a daughter of Francis E. and Pearl Trumble Gonyea, she attended Potsdam schools and married Kenneth J. French on April 18, 1945, at St. Mary's Church. Mr. French died Nov. 5, 1994.

She was a communicant of St. Mary'c Church.

Surviving are five sons, John K., Kevein B., Francis E., Weldon D. and Bernard C., all of Potrsdam; two daughters, Mrs. Herbert (Sophia) Brown and Victoria Loughren, both of Norwood; a brother, Bernard V. Gonyea, Norwood, 23 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
