Elson H. Gladding

Retired Machine Tender

 

(August 9, 1935--September 10, 1999)

 

NORWOOD--Elson H. Gladding, 64, Ashley Street, died Friday morning in the emergency room at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam.

 Mr. Gladding worked in the mines in Balmat and later became a machine tender at Norfolk Paper Mill, retiring because of disability several years ago.

 Born Aug. 9, 1935, in Raymondville, son of Ephriam and Agnes Bush Gladding, he attended school in Raymondville.

 He married Fay Loomis on Feb. 7, 1953, in Norwood Methodist Church with the Rev. Allison C. Wood, pastor, officiating.

 Mr. Gladding enjoyed hunting and fishing.

 Surviving besides his wife are five daughters, Mrs. John (Crystal) Quillian, Plattsburgh, Mrs. David (Shelly) Caswell, Schuylerville, Mrs. Glenn (Martita) Barse, Winthrop, Anita Jacobs of Holly, and Elizabeth Gladding, Clinton, Mass.; a son and daughter-in-law, Francis and Sylvia, Massena, 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

 The funeral will be at the family's convenience.

 There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Garner Funeral Home, Potsdam.
