MASSENA--Margaret Rose Gollinger, 73, of Mitchell, Ind., formerly of Massena, died Aug. 16, in Mitchell.

She was a homemaker.

Born Nov. 28, 1930, in Norwood, daughter of George and Louise Narrow Gollinger, she attended Massena High School. She married Francis A. Meyre on Aug. 14, 1948, at the Church of the Sacred Heart with the Rev. Harold J. Skelly officiating. The marriage ended in divorce.

She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Mitchell, and Mitchell Senior Citizens and enjoyed gardening. Surviving are a son, Robert F. Meyre, address unknown; three daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah M. and Clyde Deon, of Mitchell, Betty A. and Thomas Fillmore, Wolcott, and Tina L. and Timothy DeLisle, Louisville; four brothers, Carroll Davis, Lowville, Francis and W. John Davis, both of Massena, and Bernard Davis, Malone; two sisters, Nora Davis Rush, Massena, and Mary Davis Courson, Winthrop; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Her mother, father, stepfather, Robert Davis, a son David L. Meyre, a brother, William Davis, and two sisters, Betty Gollinger McDonald and Evelyn Gollinger Wallenhorst, died before her.

The funeral will be at 5 p.m. Friday at Phillip’s Memorial Home with deacon James Hotte officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

A calling hour will be from 4 to 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

MITCHELL, IND.--Funeral services for Margaret Rose Gollinger, 73, Mitchell, Inc., formerly of Massena, will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Indiana with the Rev. Bernie Cox officiating.

The body will be cremated following the service.

Arrangements are with the Chastain Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gollinger died Monday (Aug. 16, 2004) at Dunn Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph; a son, Robert F. Meyre; three daughters, Deborah (Meyre) Deon and husband Clyde of Mitchell, Ind., Betty A. (Meyre) Delisle and husband, Timothy of Louisville; 10 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; four brothers Francis Gollinger, Massena, Carroll Davis, Bernard Davis, Malone, John Davis, Massena; and two sisters, Nora Davis, Massena, and Mary Davis, Winthrop.

She was predeceased by one son, David L. Meyre, twin brother of Deborah Deon; a brother, Bill Davis; and sisters Betty Gollinger and Evelyn Gollinger.

She was born Nov. 28, 1930, in Norwood, the daughter of George and Louise (Narrow) Gollinger. After her father passed away, she was raised by her mother and stepfather, Robert Davis.

She married Joseph Francis Aldona Meyre on Aug. 15, 1948.

She was an excellent homemaker and loved to garden. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Mitchell Senior Citizens.
