Max J. Halpern

NORWOOD--A graveside service for Max J. Halpern, 82, Orchard Street, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Cemetery, Waterville, Maine.

Mr. Halpern died Monday at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam, where he had been a patient since Nov. 23.

There will no calling hours. Arrangements are with Buck Funeral Home.

He was a retail manager with Shottenstein Department Stores, Cleveland, Ohio, and M.H. Fishman Store, Potsdam.

He was a member of Potsdam Lions Club, Cortland Masonic Lodge and the Shriners Club of Rutland, Vt., and a life member of the American Numismatic Association.

Born Jan. 16, 1916, in Pittsburgh, Pa., a son of Leonard and Bella Halpern, he married Juliette A. Veilleux on May 15, 1943. She died Oct. 10, 1990.

Surviving are a son, Leonard, Norwood; two sisters, Mrs. Milton (Blanche) Hirsch and Pearl Fink, both of Pittsburgh, Pa., and a grandson.

Two brothers, Albert and Harry, and a sister, Beatrice Halpern, died before him.

Donations may be made to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley or the Salvation Army.
