John Joy

John Joy, formerly of Potsdam but for some years past a prominent and highly respected business man of Norwood died at the home of A. C. Healey in that place, Thursday, October 30.

Mr. Joy was ill for a week a short time ago but was apparently on the gain. His sudden death was due to acute indigestion. He had only lately returned from his summer camp on the St. Lawrence.

Mr. Joy was born in Waddington 77 years ago and when a boy moved to Potsdam where he made his home until he went to Norwood some years ago. While here and in Norwood he was a successful jeweler and optician and his word on diamonds and other precious stones was highly valued and thoroughly reliable.,

He is survived by one son, Father James Joy of Constableville and two daughters, Mrs. Mary Joy Clark of Little Neck, L.I., and Miss Anna Joy of Bayside, L.I.

Funeral services were held at St. Andrew’s Norwood with burial in St. Mary’s cemetery, Potsdam.
