Maintenance man

MASSENA--Francis F. LaBrake, 79, Massena, formerly of Potsdam, died early Friday at Massena Memorial Hospital, where he had been admitted the previous day.

Mr. LaBrake drove a bus for Red and Tan Lines and then was a maintenance man for the Potsdam post office from 1967 until retiring in 1978.

Born June 24, 1926, in Malone, a son of Harry and Bertha Price LaBrake, he graduated from Norwood High School.

A world War II veteran, he served in the Army from 1945 until being honorably discharged in 1947. He moved to Potsdam and worked at Aluminum Company of America for a short time and on the St. Lawrence Seaway construction project.

A marriage to Beverly Ann LaPoint ended in divorce.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

All of his brothers and sisters died before him.

There will be no funeral or calling hours. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Potsdam, with the Rev. Garry B. Giroux officiating.

Arrangements are with Garner Funeral Home, Potsdam.
