Edgar F. Ladouceur

World War II Veteran

NORWOOD--Edgar F. Ladouceur, 78, formerly of 15 Spring St., died early Wednesday in United Helpers Canton Nursing Home.

Mr. Ladouceur served with the Marine Corps, Sixth Marine Division, from 1943 to 1946 in Kwajalein, Atoll and Okinawa. He was employed by New York Telephone Co. from April 1946 until his retirement in March 1982, serving as line foreman, wire chief and outside plant engineer.

Born Aug. 1, 1924, in Ogdensburg, son of Edgar and Olive Fox Ladouceur, he was a 1941 graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy. He married Joan Rosamond Stevens of Ogdensburg on March 3, 1946, at St. John’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. George A. Palmer officiating.

He was an avid golfer, achieving two holes-in-one, a double eagle and an eagle at Meadowbrook Golf Club, Winthrop, where he was a member. He was a charter member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge, Potsdam, and a member of Telephone Pioneers of American and the American Legion. He also served as chairman of the Norwood Historical Association and Museum.

Surviving besides his wife are a son, Marc, Watertown; two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Louise "Mickey") McKenna and Mrs. John (Marcia) Murray, both of Norwood; a brother, Harold, Tampa, Fla.; three sisters, Mrs. Robert (Evelyn) McGuire, Syracuse, Mrs. Richard (Ada) Prophet, Ogdensburg, and Keitha LaLonde, Tampa, Fla., five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew’s Church with Monsignor Robert H. Aucoin officiating. Burial will be in Bixby Cemetery.

Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Buck Funeral Home.
