PARISHVILLE--Theresa P. LaPoint, 78, formerly of Baldwin Acres, Norwood, and Parishville, died Saturday evening in Community Nursing Home, Potsdam, where she had been a resident since Tuesday.
Mrs. LaPoint was a bus driver with Parishville-Hopkinton Central School until her retirement in 1980. Following her retirement, she was a volunteer driver for the St. Lawrence County department of Social Services until December 1999.
Born March 24, 1922, in Potsdam, she attended Potsdam High School. She married Gerald LaPoint on Feb. 24, 1939, at St. Mary's Church, Potsdam. He died Oct. 23, 1972.
She was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and a member of its Altar and Rosary Society and LIFT (Living with Inspiration, Friendship and Thanksgiving) for widows and widowers, sponsored by the American Association of University Women.
Surviving are a son and his wife, William and Doris, Knapps Station; two daughters and their husbands, Renace "Rennie" and Wayne Ames, South Colton, and Sharon and Thomas Phillips, Norwood; a son-in-law, John "Harold" Regan, South Colton; a half brother, Reginald Stowe, Colton; nine grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Two daughters, Dona L. Regan and Jennifer LaPoint, and a grandson died before her.
A funeral Mass will be said at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael's Church with the Revs. Howard J. Venette, Joseph W. Elliott and Paul Worczak officiating. Spring burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Garner Funeral Home, Potsdam.
