CANTON--The funeral for Marion F. Leonard, 86, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Lawrence Funeral Home, with the Rev. William Hart, pastor of DeKalb United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Pierrepont Cemetery.
Mrs. Leonard, formerly of Pierrepont and Riverside Drive, died Tuesday at Community Nursing Home, Potsdam, where she had been a resident since December 1993.
She was employed at St. Lawrence University as a cook in Eben Holden Dining Hall from 1965 until her retirement in 1976.
Born Oct. 6, 1911, in Norwood, daughter of Charles and Alma Hogabone Wright, she attended Ogdensburg Free Academy.
She married Mahlon E. Leonard on Aug. 25, 1927, in Paul Smiths. He died July 3, 1969.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Royal (Mavis) Guyette, Colton, and Mrs. Laurence (Lorraine) MacDonald, Pierrepont; eight grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren 16 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Two sisters, Lena Bryant and Edith Clark; five brothers, Ora, Ray, Glen, Roy and Charles Wright; two half sisters, Mabel Loomis and Maude Hall, and a half brother, Wilber Wright, died before her.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
